Reflections from Haiti – Allison Brown – Saturday January 23.No tent, just a sleeping bag, so I slept in the rental truck. The cool crisp air woke me up rather quickly early that morning. 8:00a.m. and it was already beginning to get hot. Soon we realized that the patients had no intention of returning inside the building, as we watched family members use whatever they could find – sticks, broken...

Report from Cameron: If I hadn’t learned to drive in rural Texas, had my skills refined in Honduras and we didn’t have insurance on our minivan… We might still be stuck in the 10 miles (literally) of 18 wheelers loaded with aide from countries all over the globe. While lines are annoying its neat to see the outpouring of help. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
So glad to have my wife back from Haiti. She and Meredith Jones returned today. They are exhausted both physically and emotionally. Rebecca, Cameron, kurt, and Riley are all still there. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
Report from Haiti: Cameron sent me a text message today with the following report ~ After rushing the sick lady to the makeshift ER in the Dominican Republic, an hour and a half away we then returned to Port au Prince, Haiti. Once we got there we decided to look around for some real earthquake damage, up until this point the number of deaths didn’t seem to match the destruction that we had...
Riley Curry, Mission Lazarus intern, left Honduras this afternoon headed to Haiti with more supplies needed by the ML medical team in Port au Prince. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
Photoset: Haiti After the Quake
Haiti Report: I finally got a call from Ally in Port au Prince tonight. They have been sleeping across the border in the Dominican Republic at night but they are now set up in Port au Prince. They have seen a lot and I can tell that it’s wearing on them. I have enormous list of meds and supplies that I’ll be shipping in the morning with Riley Curry, Mission Lazarus intern. They report...
Haiti Report: Cameron - Sick woman was airlifted from field hospital to US ship hospital.
Haiti Report: Note from Cameron - Emergency run from Port au Prince back to Jimani, Dominican Republic to the field hospital with a critically ill woman. I don’t think she’ going to make it.
Haiti. Note From Cameron: We pulled into to Jimini before daybreak. As we asked for directions to the hospital all we had to do was mention its name and we were greeted by a large woman with a big grin, a point to “arriba!” and as we pulled away a heavily accented, yet humble and greatful, “thank you”… Worth every minute… Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry®...
Haiti Report: Cameron and Kurt arrived safely into the Dominican Republic. They pulled out of the rental car office at 2 AM. They made great time and did not get lost on their way to the border with Haiti. They made it in 4 hours. Just spoke with him and they are loading their truck in Jimani, DR, with more supplies and people and heading into Haiti right now. Enviado desde mi dispositivo...
Haiti Update: This morning we received word that another strong aftershock had hit Port au Prince. Meredith Jones called asking us to try and confirm reports. They were actually on the road headed into PaP to open a new clinic today. The reports were confirmed but the quake was a 4.4, not the 7.8 that the locals had told the ladies. This afternoon at 2PM. Mission Lazarus volunteers Cameron...
Report from Honduras: Thank you to everyone who was praying for Yazmin yesterday. She is fine. They returned home from the capital at about 11 PM. I know that God answered our prayers to give her a bit more time on this earth. I was nearly in a panic yesterday when I saw her. She was so blue it was as if she had been under water for 10 minutes. God is good, and he is worthy of praise!
News from Haiti: Meredith Jones reports: We (Meredith Jones, Rebecca Brown, and Allison Brown) are almost to Port au Prince this morning and the word on the street is that a massive 7.8 aftershock just hit this morning. Please pray for the people of Haiti and these ladies. They have teamed up with a new group and today they are opening a new clinic in Port au Prince. Also pray for Mission Lazarus...
Report from Haiti, Meredith Jones: Last night we weren’t on the schedule to work but we went over to the hospital to help. We have become attached to “our” patients and wanted to check on them. As I sat on the floor in their room organizing the charts and trying to chat with the patients in French / Creole, the ladies in the room started to sing. At first the songs sounded...
Prayer Request from Honduras: Hello All. We have a little girl at the Refuge named Yazmin Velazquez. She has some severe congenital defects, the largest being that her heart does not send blood to the lungs to get oxygen. The fact that she is alive is a true miracle. Ill explain how it works later. Anyhow, we have known for a long time that she could die and any minute. She is 4 years old. This...
Report from Rebecca Brown in Haiti: We felt a tremor our first day working here. The panic in their faces was the most horrible thing I have ever seen. It was panic I could not comfort. Something that was real. Something they had already experienced with devastating results. I watched a man jump from the second story in order to escape the building. They had already lost everything - food,...
Haiti needs more narcotic drugs including anesthesia and pain killers. They cannot be bought in the US but we can buy them in Honduras. We have two folks traveling on Tuesday from Honduras to Haiti. If you can give money for meds please do so, see our website, http://www.missionlazarus.org/Give.html .
Last night when I talked to Ally she was really discouraged. There were so many hurting people, too much to grasp. She was contemplating returning to Honduras on Sunday. Today however was a great day, God was alive and well and really took advantage of Ally, Rebecca, and Meredith’s willingness to serve. Ally will now be returning to Honduras on Friday of next week.
Ally reported from the Haitian border tonight that a fancy helicopter brought in a steady flow of new patients to the field hospital in Jimani. The need does not go away at this point. Mission Lazarus has carried in more than 1000 vials of morphine and 4 days later it’s all gone. Too many amputees and serious injuries requiring serious pain medication.
My wife Ally called from Haiti tonight. It was so good to hear her voice. Last night a strong aftershock scared all of the patients out of the hospital, one jumped from the second floor and broke his back. This morning they worked hard to move them all back inside. Not long after everyone was inside another strong aftershock hit and scared most people back outside.
This is what the hospital grounds in Haiti looked like this morning after everyone ran out of the building last night. Pray for safety for these folks with physical and emotional wounds. All the Haitian patients that would fit into this tent crammed in while the rest were left outside. It was not too bad last night but it’s going to be getting really hot today.
Mission Lazarus folks started early today in Haiti. All of the patients are outside in the heat today after more earthquakes last night. They are scared to be in the hospital even though it has not suffered any structural damage. See pictures at http://missionlazarushaiti.tumblr.com/

Report from Haiti. Seth Daggett, Mission Lazarus director of communication: There was a tremor here tonight. Everything shook and scared the patients out of the hospital, all of them. One guy jumped off the second floor. Terrible and sad. Please pray for the Haitians.
Quick Report from Haiti from Mission Lazarus board member, Dave Gibbs. Sorry, I’ve lost track of days negligible sleep Tuesday and Wednesday, none at all yesterday. Yesterday I drove 14 hours to pick up our medical team and critical morphine supplies. Essentially all the morphine we brought on Wednesday night from the US was gone (10 bottles left out of 1000 in less than 36 hours). Today we...
Great phone call with Mission Lazarus team in Haiti. Haitians are not understanding the importance of Tetanus shots at the field hospital and are no not allowing vaccinations. Pray for understanding on the local Haitians.
Great new pics and reports coming in from Seth Daggett in Haiti, check it out at: http://missionlazarushaiti.tumblr.com/
Ally Brown, Meredith Jones, and Rebecca Brown just pulled out for Haiti via the Tegucigalpa airport with Cameron Hartsell. The truck was loaded to the rails with meds and surgical equipment. God speed. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
Haiti Report Thursday morning. Short night on hard ground. The night was punctuated by soft sobbing, children crying and occasional cries of pain. The OR runs 24 hours. Daybreak I awoke to women singing praise and worship in the midst of all this suffering. Unbelievably moving. This morning we’re crossing into Haiti. Let’s see what the day brings. Report from Haiti. Wednesday night. Arrived Jimani at 10:00 pm Unloaded meds and supplies David Vanderpool gave me a thorough briefing and tour of the field hospital. There are several hundred patients here. The meds brought in today will have immediate lifesaving benefits. Teams are going into Port au Prince every morning to seek out victims to bring here. Transportation is a huge issue The...

Mission Lazarus in Haiti??? This morning Mission Lazarus board member Dave Gibbs, Mission Lazarus director of communications Seth Daggett, and dedicated Mission Lazarus volunteer Rich Quinn are traveling to Haiti. Why in the world would Mission Lazarus be headed to Haiti with so much going on in Honduras? The answer is that in Honduras we have the unique ability to purchase strictly controlled...
