Tonight Hugo Chavez has requested UN troops to intervene in Honduras. Almost seems like he has done this to justify his own invasion if the UN says no, which I would imagine that they will do. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
Tonight 4 nicaraguan preachers who work with us here in choluteca called me worried. They had heard reports from family in nicaragua that their military was preparing to invade on thursday, when the ousted president, friend of nicaragua and daniel ortega, returns to honduras. What a day. It seemed to be peaceful. There was an enormous march in support of the new president. Arrest warrants were issued for the ousted president, zelaya. He vows to return to honduras on thursday. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo

Today 70 buses loaded with peasant farmers were detained, they were on their way to the capital to prostest the ousting of the president. I have come to think that a military invasion would be safer than the uprising of thousands of campesinos who don’t have to abide by rules of engagement. Honduras has been isolated by the international community. All European Union and Latin American...
Today we will be formally advising mission groups that are planning on arriving this weekend that they should change their plans. Ex-president Zelaya is expected to return to Honduras on Thursday. Honduran officials say that he can enter the country, but only as a civilian. I am concerned for what will happen here after he returns and has time to rally his people.
Today is business as normal at Mission Lazarus, for the most part. Our 13 interns are not traveling out to the different rural outposts of the mission today. There is too much uncertainty of what will happen. There is a large “march” planned in Choluteca today. The ex-president, Manuel Zelaya, will be speaking at the UN in New York City today. I really don’t understand why the...
Just returned to san marcos from choluteca. Only 2 cars on the road for the whole trip. Very strange. Enviado desde mi dispositivo BlackBerry® de Tigo
We just drove to choluteca with 2 fifty-five gallon drums. We are filling them with diesel now. Cameron, on his way back from tgu was able to buy 3 drums and he filled them as well. The texaco in downtown choluteca tells me they are almost out of fuel and they won’t be getting more until the US sends it. All fuel in honduras has come from venezuela for the past few years. We’ll fill...
Apparently Honduras has been shut out of the CA4 which was a trade treaty amongst the other Central American nations. That means that most of our supplies in country will dry up fast, starting with fuel. We are headed to Choluteca to try and get 55 gallon drums filled to have in reserve at the Mission.
Things are getting to be odd. The only gas station in San Marcos de Colon where we live is has closed. There are lots of rumors floating around about military action tonight. Please join us in praying for this country. Jarrod
The question of the day is, “What in the world is going on in Honduras?” There are so many reports going around it’s hard to know what’s going on but I thought that I would take a few minutes to give you a report from where we are in rural southern Honduras. On Saturday night I sent a sincere email to the group leaders who are planning on bringing groups to Mission Lazarus...
Today has been full of uncertainty. I started the day in the capital to the sound of fighter jets doing fly overs as a show of force. There were also helicopters all over the place. There was a peaceful coup last night. The congress voted to remove the president by force. He was exciled to Costa Rica. There were large crowds of protesters in the streets near the presidential palace in support of...
According to UNICEF, over one-third of Honduran infants are malnourished due to this indigenous lifestyle.
Aide Vasquez is a dear lady. She’s a long time member of the church of Christ in Limon (Ciudad Nueva). She’s very poor and for as long as I have known her she has been trying to raise her grandchildren. A total of 8. Four from one son and four from another. The first four were abandoned by their mom and then by their father and Aide has been trying her hardest to raise them with no...

Today was an amazing day. Many of you have followed my Blog postings throughout the day. I had technical difficulties and was not able to post for a few hours. We finally made it to Reymunda’s house after a couple hours of driving. The trip through the jungle, swinging bridges, folks panning for hold, amazing views. As much of a blessing as that was, it did not compare to the time we spent...
Gods hands in Honduras, His ambassadors to attend...
Meet Reymunda Ordonez, 92 years old, who lives in a remote village called, Agua Fria, in the mountains outside of Choluteca. Her grandson, Santos Alvarez, introduced us to her. Santos is a member of the church that meets in Barrio La Libertad in downtown Choluteca. As you can tell from the pictures Reymunda has a very advanced cancer that is consuming her face. There is not much medically that...
This is a work summary from a group of folks working in the village of Los Colorados. This summer groups are building a church building for the church that has been meeting under a lean-to for the past 5 years as well as a water system that will benefit the entire community Subject: Monday Update We’ve had rain and mud since we arrived. Everyone is doing well and the mountains nights are...
